Research Projects

Object-based Spatial Audio

Object-based Spatial Audio

This project involves research into recording, processing and representation of object-based audio. More specifically, we are working on recording techniques using spherical microphone arrays, sound scene analysis and representation, and scene interpolation.

Automatic Soundscape Design

Automatic Soundscape Design

This project is involved in the development of NLP-based procedural soundscape design from free-text queries to aid the sound design process in AR/VR/MR and games. We are working on algorithms that can select appropriate procedural sound algorithms and the parameters to be used using an appropriate soundscape taxonomy.

Quaternion-based Acoustic Signal Processing

Quaternion-based Acoustic Signal Processing

The aim of this project is to develop and test the theory of the application of signal processing techniques to be used with a quaternion-valued representation of acoustic fields.

Acoustic biometrics

This project is involved with the design and development of algorithms for speaker recognition from non-speech sounds/utterances.
